Did somebody say split base? I don’t know why I started splitting my base spirits in cocktails so frequently. Maybe it was when I first discovered tropical cocktails in general or maybe, subconciously, I thought it would make the bottles all last longer. What I do know is that sometimes the result is greater than the sum of it’s parts and while my name game’s lame I think I’m onto something here. With a main base of beautifully aged Jamaican Rum and supporting cast of the best Kentucky and Cognac have to offer, we have the Side Rye Mai Tai. I don’t feel the need to explain further, right? Cool. If you’ve got this combo of spirits laying around give this a go, it’s a fun way to switch up the classic(s) yet keep to the spirit of the OG.
